Nick is a longstanding racehorse owner who brings over 40 years of experience in marketing and communications. Most recently his roles have included at Great British Racing, Racing to School and Sandown Park. Nick was appointed to the PJA board and to the role of Chairman in June 2023.

Paul Struthers
Dale Gibson
Dale joined the PJA team in January 2010 as Industry Liaison Officer, having retired as a flat Jockey after 23 years during which he represented the PJA as a Safety Officer, Vice President and Council member. Working alongside the PJA’s Chief Executive and with other sectors of the racing industry, the role encompasses issues including welfare, career development, fixture lists, planning and Jockey safety. Dale is also the point of contact for all jockey disciplinary matters.
Pete Burrell
Peter has worked in horse racing since his grandfather built The National Stud. He has spent time working in stables, mostly as an assistant to Julie Cecil, and was Frankie Dettori’s commercial manager for 30 years. Going forwards he wants to help the PJA ensure that the jockeys, who are so pivotal to the sport, get all of the help and support that they need.
P.J. McDonald
P.J. took up this appointment following Steve Drowne’s retirement from race riding in 2018. He started his career as a Jump Jockey and won the Scottish Grand National in 2007 on Hot Weld for
Ferdy Murphy. His two Group 1 victories on the Flat have come on Laurens, including the Prix Saint-Alary at Longchamp in 2018.
James Best
Henry Brooke
Henry is a Jump Jockey based in North Yorkshire. He was crowned Champion Conditional Jockey in 2011/12 and has just had his most successful season in terms of winners in 2022/23. Henry’s biggest winners to date have been the Becher Chase at Aintree in 2015 and the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle in 2019. He was appointed to the PJA Board in June 2023.
Neil Callan
Neil is a Newmarket-based Flat Jockey who has twice funushed runner-up to the Champion Jockey (2005 and 2007). He spent a spell riding in Hong Kong, returning to the UK full time in 2021. He was appointed to the PJA Board in June 2023.
Mike Cattermole
Mike is well known as a racecourse commentator and TV presenter, previously for Channel 4 Racing and now Sky Sports Racing. During his 40 years in the sport he has also worked at The Sporting Life and acted as an agent for Willie Carson. More recently Mike has been actively involved at the Bob Champion Cancer Trust, which he has chaired for the last 10 years.
