The Jockeys Injury Management Team (JIM Team) are a team of highly qualified physical therapists with many years of experience treating professional athletes, who aim to provide a highly competent and comprehensive physiotherapy service to jockeys at race meetings. Their treatment aims are to aid recovery from injury and to monitor that recovery while also providing advice on the prevention of long-term problems. Treatments are given, when appropriate, to injuries sustained at race meetings on the day and also to jockeys with more long-term injuries.
Covid-19 Pandemic update – A few members of the IJF’s Physiotherapy and Strength and Conditioning teams are still working remotely during lockdown to assist individual Jockeys with injury management and rehabilitation and provide any advice required until racing returns. You can contact them for assistance by speaking to the IJF centres.

Therapists provide cover at every race meeting in the UK. They arrive at least one and a half hour before racing starts and are available to treat jockeys until after the last race. On-course physical therapy is funded by contributions from the British Horseracing Authority, Injured Jockeys Fund, Professional Jockeys and Racecourses and is managed by the BHA Medical Department.
At the IJF Centres
Free physiotherapy sessions are available for professional jockeys at every IJF Centre and can be booked by contacting the centre directly.
Strength & Conditioning
Alongside physiotherapy, free individual strength and conditioning sessions are available with the S&C coaches at every IJF centre and can be booked directly with the centres.
