Fees and Prizemoney
All riding fees and prizemoney are transferred directly into jockeys’ Weatherbys accounts. How much prizemoney jockeys win is decided by a very complicated Rule of Racing and varies from race type to race type and is dependent on how many places are being paid. However, as a general rule of thumb Flat jockeys receive around 7% of the advertised win prize and 3% of the advertised place prize. Jump Jockeys receive around 9% of the win prize and 4% of the place prize.
The riding fee is negotiated annually between the PJA and the ROA. The current riding fees are: Flat – £127.14 and Jump – £173.59. A breakdown of income and expenses is available to Members in their Members Handbook.
Jockeys receive 50% of their riding fee for any non-runner after jockey declarations.
The current booking fees are: Flat – £63.57 and Jump – £86.79. The only deduction that will be taken out is any agent’s fee and the trainer’s share if the jockey is not on full fees.
