PJA Safety Officer
Mark gives a tremendous amount of his time to helping the PJA in both his capacity as Council member and also Southern Jump Safety Officer. A Fife-born Jockey, he gets many of his rides from trainer Henry Daly and his mother Sue. Appointed to the Council in 2002.
Silvestre De Sousa Silvestre De Sousa
Flat Jockey

Originally from Brazil, Silvestre had a fantastic season with 161 wins and over 1000 rides, finishing a close second to Paul Hanagan in the Flat Jockeys' Championship 2011. Appointed to the Council in 2011
Ted Durcan Ted Durcan
Flat Jockey

Ted is a household name in Dubai having been Champion Jockey in the United Arab Emirates many times. A regular rider for the Godolphin team, Ted has two British classics to his name – The Oaks and The St Leger. Appointed to the Council in 2004.
Paul Hanagan
Flat Jockey

The 2010 & 2011 Flat racing Champion Jockey. After a titanic struggle with his nearest rival Richard Hughes in 2010, Paul became only the second northern-based Jockey to win the title in 100 years. Appointed to the Council in 2008.
Brian Hughes
Jump Jockey

Brian plies his trade mainly on Jump racing’s northern circuit where he is stable Jockey for James Ewart. He also takes the reins on Richard Fahey’s horses over fences and hurdles. The Northern Irishman is a past Champion Conditional Jockey. Appointed to the Council in 2011
Wayne Hutchinson Wayne Hutchinson
Jump Jockey

Wayne learnt his trade from two former greats in the shape of Stan Mellor and Jeff King, before joining Alan King at Barbury Castle in the summer of 2002. He is currently second Jockey at Alan King’s yard and is first choice Jockey to trainer Jim Old. Appointed to the Council in 2008. 
Paul Mulrennan Paul Mulrennan

While the 2009/10 winter’s weather wreaked havoc on British racing, Paul was enjoying riding 5,000 miles away in India where he enjoyed classic success in the Calcutta Derby – the first prize was 6 million rupees (£83,000)! In 2010 he was appointed as first Jockey for James Given. Appointed to the Council in 2008.
Wilson Renwick Wilson Renwick
Jump Jockey

Based in the Borders, Wilson has ridden for many northern trainers over the years including Howard Johnson and more recently, the team of Rose and Tony Dobbin. Appointed to the Council in 2011.
Tom Scudamore Tom Scudamore
Jump Jockey

Stable Jockey to David Pipe, Tom is a leading Jump Jockey with over 490 professional wins and over 4800 rides to his name. His career highlights to date include winning the BGC Long Walk Hurdle on Lough Dergh and the VictorChandler Chase on Tamarinbleu. Appointed to the Council in 2011..

Fergus is equally at home on the turf as he is on the All Weather, with the bulk of his rides coming from trainer Gary Moore. Fergus once took part in a race between a greyhound and a racehorse – the dog won! Appointed to the Council in 2006.
Sam Thomas Sam Thomas
Jump Jockey

Sam famously won the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Denman, but he also has other major wins – most notably Kauto Star in the Betfair Chase and Twist Magic in the Tingle Creek Chase. Appointed to the Council in 2008.
Hayley Turner Hayley Turner
Flat Jockey

The ‘first lady’ of the Weighing Room, in 2008 Hayley became the first female Jockey to ride 100 winners in a year and was voted Channel 4’s Racing Personality. She has also captained Britain’s Shergar Cup team and already has seven ‘Lesters’ to her name. Appointed to the Council in 2006.
