Kindly sponsored by Racing UK, The PJA Pro Am 2011 was hosted at the beautiful Buckinghamshire Golf Club, Denham on Monday 26th September.
Seventeen teams took part in the event with each team of guests captained by a past or present racing legend. The Jockeys who took part included Champion Jockey AP McCoy, Cheltenham Gold Cup winning Jockeys Sam Thomas and Paddy Brennan as well as top Flat Jockeys Richard Hughes and Neil Callan to name just a few.
Following a tasty breakfast on arrival and a round of practice and professional coaching on the driving range, the team competition took
place during the afternoon around the challenging championship golf course. Nice weather and fantastic hospitality throughout the day ensured a great afternoon of golf was had by all.
The Aintree/Haydock team led by Daryl Jacob managed to maintain their early lead to emerge the winners with SIS Racing Director David Bradshaw snatching the individual honours on the last round. As well as the team competition, various golf challenges were laid on throughout the day raising funds for the Injured Jockeys Fund.
Kevin Darley, PJA Chief Executive, commented: "The Racing UK sponsored Pro Am tournament is one of the highlights of the year for The PJA, and one to which the Jockeys look forward to immensely.
We are really grateful for Racing UK’s long-standing support of the PJA and its members."
