THE PJA TEAM

Paul Struthers    
Chief Executive

Paul succeeded Kevin Darley as Chief Executive in February 2012 and joined the PJA Board in April 2013. Paul is a trustee of the Jockeys Employment and Training Scheme (JETS), the PJA Pension Scheme and the Jockeys Association Trust.  He is also a Director of the Horsemens Group and is a Horsemens Group-appointed director of Racing Enterprises Ltd.  He previously worked in the racing industry for 11 years, most recently as Head of Communications for the British Horseracing Authority, having begun his career working as a betting shop manager and then in business development.



Ann Saunders MBE
Executive Director

As well as having responsibility for company matters and staffing, Ann also administers the Jockeys’ pension scheme and is a Trustee of the scheme.
Dr Anna Louise Mackinnon
Medical Advisor

A GP with interests in sports and occupational medicine, Anna Louise has been the PJA’s full time Medical Adviser since January 2009. She also works for the Injured Jockeys Fund at Oaksey House, Lambourn as well as keeping up to date with regular sessions in general practice and sports medicine.
Dale Gibson
Industry Liaison Officer

Dale joined the PJA team in January 2010 as Industry Liaison Officer and combines this role with consultancy and media work within the sport, he is also a keen supporter of the Injured Jockeys Fund. Working alongside the PJA’s Chief Executive and with other sectors of the racing industry, the role encompasses welfare, training and safety issues. Dale is also a Trustee of the pension scheme.
Clare Hazell
Membership Manager

Clare has been part of the PJA Team since 2002, She was appointed as Membership Manager in 2008. Her role involves managing and promoting the comprehensive package of support and welfare schemes available to Jockeys and mentoring youngsters embarking on their career. Clare has been a Director of the Jockeys Employment & Training Scheme since October 2003.
Isabelle Desailly
Commercial Manager

Izzy joined the PJA in February 2008 as Commercial Assistant and was appointed Commercial Manager in June 2009. Her responsibilities include organising and overseeing PJA events and working on commercial and sponsorship opportunities. In addition, she is responsible for the development of and the day-to-day updating of the PJA website and also administers the Jockeys’ fuel card and badge schemes.
