The 22nd annual awards ceremony, The Stobart Lesters, will be held at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham on Thursday 5th April 2012 (Maundy Thursday).
As in previous years, awards will be presented to ‘Jockeys of the Year’ under each code, as voted for by the PJA membership. This year we are encouraging Jockeys to consider nominating someone for the popular “Special Recognition” awards who work in the industry and help them throughout the year but are outside of the Jockey profession.Winners will be presented with a much sought after silver or bronze statuette, affectionately known as a Lester. 
The PJA is delighted that The Stobart Group, for the second year, is the title sponsor of the event. On the evening, they will be presenting much sought over prizes to the winners of the inaugural Stobart League Championships.
Hosted by At The Races presenters Luke Harvey and Jason Weaver, the evening starts at 7pm with a Champagne reception, followed by a three-course dinner with half bottle of wine included, the awards ceremony and the brilliant live rock band RPJ, fronted by Rick Parfitt jnr, will be performing until the early hours. A raffle in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund will take place with winners naming two new Stobart lorries on the 
night.
The Lesters, which is a highlight of the year for Jockeys, celebrates the Jockey profession and honours their achievements in 2011. It also pays tribute to some of those who do not win the top honours but through their hard work and dedication contribute much to the sport.
