The PJA is dedicated to all aspects of the profession. We work on behalf of members and negotiate with all the racing authorities and other trade bodies in order to improve the Jockeys’ standing and income through the riding fee. The history of the PJA is based on a personal service and Jockeys are encouraged and welcomed to express their views on any matter.
The current rate of subscription is 3% of the current riding fee and is collected via Jockeys’ Weatherbys riding account. In addition, there is a monthly payment, (based on a sliding scale according to the number of race rides taken in the previous season), to fund the Group Schemes arranged by the PJA on behalf of all its members. These are for Legal Expenses, travel, and Professional Indemnity cover.
The PJA team attend race-meetings on a regular basis, dates are advertised in advance on the databank pages of the Racing Post or by clicking here. Please always feel free to approach any of the PJA team at the races, as it obviously helps us to know as many Jockeys as possible.
