Anna-Louise Mackinnon is employed by the Professional Jockeys Association as their Medical Adviser (PJAMA). This post is generously jointly funded by Betfair and the Injured Jockeys Fund.
PJA members can contact Anna-Louise 24 hours a day via her mobile number for any medical based enquiry. She can also see Jockeys or IJF beneficiaries, by appointment, either at Oaksey House, Lambourn, or on the racecourse.
Anna-Louise is a practicing GP with special interests in Sports and Occupational Medicine. As well as being available to professional Jockeys 24/7, she works half a day a week at the NHS Oxsport Sports Medicine Clinic at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. She also does a weekly half day GP locum session at Thatcham Medical Practice.
Although Anna-Louise is not Jockeys’ own registered GP, she can make private referrals to specialists on their behalf and can liaise with their own GP or specialist to ensure they are receiving the best medical care.
It is important, however, that Jockeys register with their local GP.
Oaksey House is the Injured Jockeys Fund residential unit in Lambourn, Berkshire.
The Betfair Wing of Oaksey House is the Betfair funded rehabilitation centre where Anna-Louise works on Wednesday afternoons and all day Thursdays.
Kate Badger and Daloni Lucas of the Jockeys Injury Management Team provide regular physiotherapy clinics during the week in the Betfair Wing at Oaksey House and Frankie Naylor works there as the Gym Manager/Strength and Conditioning coach.
