Meet the JIM team

Kate Badger Kate Badger MCSP, BSc (Hons), MSc 
Chipping Norton, Oxon

Kate qualified in 1999 with a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy and worked in the NHS for about 3 years before specialising in musculoskeletal work and sports injuries. She continued to develop her career in this area for the past seven years including gaining a qualification in the use of acupuncture for pain relief and has recently completed an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy from Cardiff University. As well as working as part of the JIM team, Kate is based 3 days a week at Oaksey House and also in private practice where she treats a number of professional event riders and GB age group triathletes.
Julie BrownJulie A Brown MCSP, BSc (Hons)
Cheshire

Formerly a teacher, Julie played cricket and hockey for England & GB and was captain of the latter. She retrained and qualified as a Physiotherapist at Manchester University and has since gained much experience and expertise both privately and as a superintendent manager with the NHS. In her private practise she has worked with rugby, cricket, netball and premier football teams! She is a keen horse rider and has recently been invited to work with the equestrian team at the 2012 Olympic Games. Julie always describes her role in the JIM team as ‘the best job in the world!’
Sally DuftySally Dufty, MCSP, Grad.Dip.Phys, SRP
London

Since graduating in 1988, Sally has accumulated over 22 years experience working in physiotherapy. She has held various posts including a senior position in an A&E Department, physiotherapist for Motorsport Rally and Formula 1, and consultant physiotherapist for Sony Music assisting on various world tours. As well as working for the JIM Team, Sally also runs her own business over two sites in South London and Kent.

Peter FinlayPeter Finlay MCSP, BSc (Hons)
- Newcastle Upon Tyne

Originally from Northern Ireland, Peter now runs his own Private Practice in Newcastle upon Tyne. He graduated from Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh in 1998 and has previously worked in both Professional Rugby and Cricket. He has been working for the PJA since 2007.

Simon GilchristSimon J Gilchrist, MCSP, MAPA B. Phty. Grad Cert Phty (Sports)
London

Originally from Australia, Simon graduated with a BSc in Physiotherapy in 1998 and recently completed his Masters of Sports Physiotherapy. His special interests are in knee and spinal rehabilitation with a real emphasis on preventative medicine. A keen sportsman himself, Simon has worked with various international athletes including tennis players, footballers, the Australian Tae Kwon Do team and The Australian track and field team.

Kevin HuntKevin Hunt, MSCP, BSc (Hons), MSc, MAAP, HPC
Cambridge

Kevin qualified as a chartered physiotherapist from University College Dublin in 1998 and subsequently obtained a masters degree in sports & exercise medicine from the University of Nottingham. He has been involved in both professional and amateur sport throughout his career working in Gaelic Football, Ice Hockey, football and athletics. As well as being part of the JIM team, Kevin runs his own physiotherapy practice - Spinal physiotherapy & Sports medicine clinic in Cambridge.

Diane Hunter Diane E Hunter, MCSP, MSc, BSc (Hons)
Glasgow

Diane is a chartered and HPC registered physiotherapist. She qualified with a BSc Hons in 1994 from Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh and obtained an MSc in Sports medicine from Glasgow University in 2004. Having worked full time in sports medicine for the last 9 years, she now runs her own private clinic in Glasgow and works with a wide diversity of elite athletes internationally including judo, hockey, swimming and badminton.

Daloni LucasDaloni Lucas, MCSP, BSc (Hons), MSc
Swansea

Daloni trained at the University of Hertfordshire and qualified in 2005. She worked within the NHS for one year before obtaining a prestigious position within the physiotherapy team at The Ospreys Rugby Team, whom she has worked with for the past four years. She is the newest recruit to the JIM Team and is the nominated therapist at Salisbury racecourse. She also works with Kate Badger at Oaksey House. In between her work commitments, Daloni is in the second year of studying for a MSc in Sports Physiotherapy at the University of Bath.

Anna O’BrienAnna O’Brien, MCSP, Grad.Dip. Phys
Richmond, N Yorks

Anna trained as a physio at St. Thomas' Hospital in London and subsequently set up a very successful private practice in Harley Street, where she and her physio team treated many professional dancers working in West End musical theatre. Following a move to the North East in 1992, she set up another busy private practice. Mary Bromiley, a long-time friend and colleague, invited her to a Jump meeting at Carlisle racecourse and persuaded her to join the newly formed Flying Physios. In 2008 Anna was a member of the On-Course Physical Therapy Sub-committee where the plans for development and future expansion of the JIM team were made. She considers it an honour to be working in such a specialised sporting environment with such talented and dedicated people.

Pat shawPat Shaw, MCSP, Grad.Dip.Phys
Hull, East Yorkshire.

Pat became a member of the “Flying Physios” following a chance meeting with Graham Bradley. She started working at Beverley 16 years ago, offering physio to Flat Jockeys. Pat continues to thoroughly enjoy and cherish her work treating Jockeys in the North.

RabbitJ.M. (Rabbit) Slattery, BSc (Hons), M.S.S.T., Sports-Physical Therapist
Minehead, Somerset

Rabbit Slattery was the instigator of the ‘Flying Physio’s’. She enlisted her mother, the internationally renowned Mary Bromiley and together, with permission from Dr Turner, they undertook a successful pilot scheme in spring 1992. Anna O’Brien and Pat Shaw were recruited and in the autumn of the same year the ‘Flying Physio Scheme’ was born. Since then she has helped at all levels of its development into today’s JIM team.
Cathryn Woodall, MCSP,Grad.Dip.Phys, MSc, ACPSM
Farndon, Chester

Cathryn has been part of the JIM Team since August 2007, and works at both Bangor and Chester racecourses. She has considerable experience working with a wide range of athletes and in 2002 was a member of the Judo players support team at the Commonwealth Games. A keen runner, Cathryn has represented North Wales and completed the London Marathon in 3hrs 45 minutes.
