GROUP SCHEMES - COVER AND PROCEDURES (Valid to 30 October 2012)
Under these Schemes members of the PJA are covered as follows:
LEGAL EXPENSES SCHEME
In respect of Disciplinary Hearings and Motor Prosecutions:
TERRITORIAL LIMITS:
Great Britain, N. Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherland, Norway, Portugal, the Republic of Ireland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.
Disciplinary Proceedings: Provided that any Disciplinary Hearing takes place at a tribunal within Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man or in the Republic of Ireland, if it is a hearing of the Irish Turf Club.
Indemnity Limit:
£12,000 + Vat for three or more Members charged with the same offence arising from the same Event

IMPORTANT
In the event of a Member wishing to claim on this Scheme for either Disciplinary or Motoring offences they should contact the PJA immediately. Please note it is necessary for the PJA to agree to a solicitor's appointment before any work is undertaken on behalf of the Jockey.
In the event of a motoring prosecution outside your home area, you may be able to use your own solicitor initially but an Agent in the area the offence occurred may be appointed to handle the case on the day. This is normal procedure to cut excessive costs.

(a) In the event of an accident abroad the following procedure must be followed:
- i) You or someone on your behalf should contact the PJA as soon as possible.
- ii) If you are hospitalised you should advise them that you are covered by insurance.
- iii) Medical Certificates should be obtained from date of accident and cover duration of incapacity.
- iv) BILLS MUST BE PAID BY THE JOCKEY AND ALL RECEIPTS AND DOCUMENTATION SUBMITTED TO THE PROFESSIONAL JOCKEYS ASSOCIATION WITHOUT DELAY.
Without the necessary documentation, Underwriters will not pay on claim.
(b) BAGGAGE AND PERSONAL EFFECTS (excludes riding tack and equipment)
In the event of loss it should be reported to the Airline and/or Police and official documentation obtained stating when/where and what goods are lost. Without this Underwriters will not pay on claim.
(c) MONEY
Documentation should be obtained as for (b) above.
*A JOCKEY MAY EXTEND COVER UNDER THE GROUP TRAVEL INSURANCE ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS, UP TO A MAXIMUM LIMIT OF 6 MONTHS IN ALL AT AN ADDITIONAL PREMIUM. Please contact the PJA for further information.
JOCKEYS PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE
(For Negligent rather than Reckless and Intentional, Errors & Omissions)

Group Schemes are funded by Members and in this respect the following monthly deductions will be taken directly from the Jockey’s account at Weatherbys (a 0.50% collection charge will also be incurred).

Permanent Total Disablement from Usual Occupation (Race-riding)
Accident only (no illness cover)
Benefit: £100,000
Insurer: Aviva
Funding: The CEI scheme is joint funded by PJA members and Stobart Group Ltd. In addition to the contribution to the Legal, Professional Indemnity and Travel scheme the following monthly deductions will be taken directly from the Jockey's account at Weatherbys.
